@RiccoFX But what if a radioactive meteor were to explode 10 feet above your car and cause an electomagnetic pulse and cause it to turn off while going down the highway at 70MPH! OMG! Jeez…you’re looking for 20 backup systems for something that is almost nearly impossible to happen in the first place. People need to relax and think things through. It’s not as if automobile engineers were designing their first vehicles ever. I dare say they’ve given a bit of thought to all of this.

I can drive fast in any weather conditions just fine while using just my clutch and gas pedal. It’s all depends on how you push your car. Basicaly what i do daily is rally driving in my city. I take corners at fast speeds and all that. Im basicaly pushing my cars limits day in day out. Do not fucking tell me i don’t know how to drive fast you ignorant little fuck.

@RiccoFX theres also this thing called the bios, it doesn’t need an OS to tell it what to do so it can turn off the pc itself. Also if you have a manual transmission, you would be in the clear, just press the clutch and put the car in neutral and use the brakes.

@mxu79 There is no reason to depress accelerator and brake at the same time. Decide if you are wanting to go…or stay.

you can easly heal toe in an VAG (volkswagen audi group) car there is a delay between the engine cut off from both pedals being depressed. just because you prefer a cable throttle, as do alot of us myself included , does not entitle you to spread misinformation as if you are an expert. Signed Audi technican.

This is a devil system, you cant do left foot braking, becuse the engine dies.. how do you drive fast in fwd or 4wd whitout left foot braking… these new cars are killer machines, horrible thing. i dont drive car what is build after 1980. Those cars are simple and they do that what driver wants. Sorry for my bad english.

people just need to know hot to drive and have atleast a minimum idea about how a car works before they set off – whatever would happen – even if the brake pedal doesn’t override anything – the brakes will still stop the car because they have to be more powerful than the engine,
that’s why im not a big fan of all this adaptive cruise and all the other technologies, they just make drivers more and more stupid

@lostaznking No sir, not on newer cars. look at the prius. They have a “button” you have to hold it down for 3 seconds for the system to shutdown. A kill switch would be to shut down power to the electronics in case the system goes haywire.

why won’t you people just get a manual transmission on your car ( which is the proper way to driver a car ) and the problem dissapeares
if indeed the acceleration pedal get’s stuck you just quicly select neutral and brake

That can happen on any car with electronic throttle. Which is why i think they should be outlawed or atleast demand a emergency kill switch placed on the dash

Yes, any transmission mode, any speed, any weather, completely regardless of the circumstances, you press the brake and the throttle at the same time and the car will cut the throttle input off.

The failsafe cannot fail. That is why it is called a failsafe, it there’s to supplement the other safety features. It is only there as a last resort, and if it didn’t work, you could simply shut off the ignition. I guarantee you that no VW product driver has ever died or been hurt from this “FAILSAFE” failing.

RiccoFX says:

Yeah, but what if that “FAILSAFE” brake override fails? What if it were a computer problem where the failsafe doesn’t respond as the computer malfunctions and goes full throttle totally ignoring the brake? This is only useful if the system is properly working! If the computer goes haywire, there is no control or override! its like having a failsafe on my PC, to monitor and shutdown if it detects a problem, but what if the PC freezes and crashes? then now its no longer monitoring to shutdown!
