BNB #010: Toyota Recalls: Their Death Note?
Friday, September 10th, 2010
Like the BNB Newsreels? Subscribe, or check in at: youtube.com Or SEARCH: “Butt Nugget Bulletin” Toyota shot themselves in the foot, big-time! Not only did they know there were peoblems with the sticking accelerators, and computers, they let things pile up, use defective systems in other models, and now, they have to recall so many vehicles, they might eclipse the Ford Focus (2000 and 2001 models) as USA’s Worst Recall. If they just took care of things when they knew there were problems, things would be nowhere as bad, but then again, Ford, Chevy, and Honda, are glad they screwed up so royally!

the lie was in the prius vid that is what i was referring to. the one with the guy with a ski mask. not the recalls them selves. i agree with you, the idiot in the ski mask was lying not the familys who have died been injured or nearly have died or have been injured in a toyota.

What makes it a lie? I’m curious, because I think there was still a possibility that these things can’t be stopped, being NOTHING is mechanical (all CPU-driven).

i’ve seen that vid its a lie. the most publicized family to die in a toyota was a chp officer traveling down the free way (we all have probably heard the 911 tapes) he tried every thing and his lexus still wouldnt stop he had his floor mats in the trunk as well

I think it’s a bit of both.
There’s a video out there of a masked man (profanities galore) demonstrating how stipud easy it was to stop a Prius (He wasn’t a Hippie, either!!!), but Toyota also allowing these defects to fly doesn’t take them off the hook, either, especially with the new recalls, involving problems with steering (not that important, right??).
The pain from a terrible accident: “Oh, what a feeling! Toy-o-ta!”
…lol…

I dont see why idiots today still buy NEW toytoas America has been in the car business for over 100 years. why idiots in our own country resort to buying a shit box import new is beyond me. toyota not only hid these life threatening defects from us but now they are trying to say they never had any defects in the first place and the dozens of deaths caused by these defects they claim as driver error. i guess toyota owners are too stupid to hit the brakes.

The OLDER Toyotas were good, there’s no argument there.
The problem is with the RECENT models, which probably can’t get over 150K on them (as with any car, being the norm), but I like knowing when I use my brakes, my car will slow, and stop. Newer Toyotas? It’s a gamble.

name a car that consistently gets 300,000 miles.i have never seen a non diesel american car get 300,000 miles. dude you don’t realize that the chevy cobalt has a recall on everyone that was built, no you don’t because that is the government car and no one want’s to here that. Us as americans don’t care about quality,we just care when we get our pay checks, it’s obvious you are one of those people, you suck!!!

@ATITANIC1992
There’s things where computers are a good thing. The controlling of the vehicle, in ANY way, is a very bad idea. Mechanical all the way: less likely to crash, both code, and physical-wise.

Why make the controlling of a car dependent of electronics? The gas valve should be directly mechanically connectet to the ga pedal, as it was meant to be. No fancy electronics thank you.

I happen to have a Dodge Neon. They come with brakes and steering, STANDARD! Apperently, they are pricey options on a Toyota.
Too bad Chrysler is still hurting, after Toyota’s problems. Ford and Chevy are doing much better. If Chrysler dies, I’ll try Ford again. I had a horrible Focus experience, but then again, the 2000 and 2001 were the worst cars ever made (I had the 2001 model). Haven’t heard anything bad since 2003 models rolled out.

Toyota – “Moving Forward” – Even when you let your foot off the gas pedal..
Toyota – “Moving Forward” – Even when you stomp on the brakes..
Toyota – “Moving Forward” – Even when you shift into neutral & pull the E-brake.
Toyota – “Moving Forward” – Until it slams into the back of a semi-truck @ 110 mph

Buy Chrysler because they have good looking vehicles and are the underdog. Who doesnt like an underdog un less you are gambling and I wont gamble with my life by buying a Toyota( The One You Ought To Avoid).
Buy Chrysler Ford or GM, my dad worked at Chrysler so buy one from them please LoL, nah just buy american is all I ask but I think Chryslers trucks are the best looking and I love the Chargers and Challengers plus they invented the MiniVan which is the best of its class i think.

Doesn’t matter too much. Toyota accepted these, and they passed QC. They have as much to do with it as Toyota allowing it.
