  1. FordNissanChevy says:

@TruongTrieu thats a tire problem, not a Ford problem, and it was fixed, not hidden for years.

  2. TruongTrieu says:

One year from now people gonna forget about it, especially it didn’t happen to them.
    Remember this?
Thousands of people have suffered injury and death due to the Ford Explorer/Firestone tire combination. According to an August 27, 2001 report, the federal government has linked 203 deaths and over 700 injured occupants, in the United States alone, to the poorly designed Ford Explorer and its defective Firestone tires.

  3. DeadlyChinchilla says:

Apparently many people *tried* putting it in neutral to stop the runaway vehicles, with failure then too. Its possible with a largescale problem that it could be a cascading issue, and the “neutral” thing doesn’t work. Computerized vs manual.

  4. DeadlyChinchilla says:

I think that was some action signed off by the US government. They were *allowed* to do so, and knowingly. Doesn’t make it “right,” but who’s to blame?

  5. 9sholmes says:

I agree with you. You should also check the recent Young Turks Clip about the case where a man gets sent to prison after he said his Toyota car accelerator caused him to take the life of a kid in 1995. That man was released from prison after they found out he spoke the truth.

  6. jizzmonger says:

    Cenk, you stupid fuck.

Do you have a single ounce of technical training or skills in that piss tank you call a head?

  7. jizzmonger says:

    @KeepingModern

    LOL

  8. 304teddy says:

“If you honestly think Ford, GM and Chrysler have never denied and tried to cover under the rug their problems man I wish luck to you”. so give us an example.

  9. 304teddy says:

are you retarded? toyota has yet to see as much bad press as ford got over the exploders. ford also earned a congressional hearing. why is it ok to grill american brands but toyota deserves a pass?

  10. 304teddy says:

“using a lower gear will slow down the car”-WRONG, every car built today from astin martin to VW locks out lower gears at set speeds. for example the lincoln MARK VII i used to own wouldnt downshift to second gear once above 65mph, and it wouldnt downshift to first above something like 35mph(its been awhile so i dont remember exactly). all cars built today are the same in that none will allow downshifting after a certain speed.

  11. 304teddy says:

i heard toyota equipped their paper shredders with the “sticky pedals” so they could run wide open on their own. a recent memo shows they saved millions over paying a person to do it.

  12. lexusmaster55 says:

Your gear shift in any vehicle is connected to a manual valve. That is a mechanical connection. When the trans is put into Neutral, it is in NEUTRAL!!!! Why to you spout off about shit you don’t know. WTF is wrong with you. The lady says she put it in Reverse, guess what, that gets a neutral gear also due to vehicle speed!!! Stop accepting lies like the asshole in this video. The floor mat configuration in the San Diego cop’s car was carpet floor mat below all weather mat. FACTS!!!

  13. dimented24x7 says:

Ive known for a long time that Toyota obfuscates the information when there is a problem with their cars. They make a decent product, but I would never buy from a company that wont tell me when there is an issue with my car.
Its also ironic that simply putting the car in neutral and letting the motor bounce off the rev limiter is all thats needed to stop the car, but most people are fairly ignorant when it comes to cars. Its a shame people had to die for this to finally come to light.

  14. lloydreggie says:

Actually we need tort reform to make sueing much much easier by the people. Here’s one thing i know for a fact, regulation is NEVER going to happen. The republicans would like to see total deregulation in combination with draconian and nefarious tort laws. I say we loosen the laws to the extent companies will feel compelled to respect their clients and volunarily REQUEST regulation. hahaha

  15. Chyrnobil says:

the computer can’t stop you from changing gears.. period. have you ever put your car in neutral at highway speeds? it slows down quickly, and you can steer!! imagine that. the youngturks are fucktards

  16. Chyrnobil says:

LOL.. its spin is all it is.. those fuckin turkeys are full of shit. period

  17. matsut81 says:

So we need to change the law so a car company can sell death traps and not get sued out of existence?

  18. KeepingModern says:

Love and support for TYT because they tell the truth!

  19. bumfire007 says:

I not disagreeing with you but I have heard that defect affected the breaks as well. I said maybe low gear would work in that case.

  20. 3star2nr says:

Older cars used to use a very long cable from the gas pedal to the engine. so when ypu press the gas it openss the throttle on the engine.

Drive by wire, replaces the cable with a electric sensor on the gas pedal, called a potentiometer, and it detects pedal travel and generates a voltage signal, which it sends to a little servo motor on the throttle to open the throttle body.

So basically drive by wire is electronic gas pedal. Where as older cars use a mechanical linkage

  21. goodfella21f says:

@voiceofintelligence… if it was a hatchet job against foreign competition they would attack Honda, Nissan, Suzuki, Volkwagen, Saab, you name it. but the media for many decades has slammed American car companies for their lack of quality while praising Japanese quality… people dont understand that since the late 90′s Japanese quality has just gone way downhill, while American quality has gone up… Japanese quality mirrors their declining economy. no longer is what it once was.

  22. goodfella21f says:

except for the fact that many of these Toyota owners had problems putting it in neutral, the computer system wouldn’t let them. And also, even if they would be able to put in neutral they’re driving down the highway and then get on the shoulder going 65 mph then all of a sudden can’t stop, you can’t really make a split decision on putting it in neutral, that’s what happened to some Americans driving those death cars.. and they in fact died. Toyota stinks.

  24. dominicleung87 says:

1 – after you’re in neutral your brakes still work
2 – you dont lose control, you lose power steering, you can still steer quite well especially at speed
3 – using a lower gear will slow down the car (atleast you got one right =P)

  25. zoemayne says:

@dominicleung87 she shifted into neutral and reverse the car kept going electrical problem it is
